This course is about measurements of gaseous and particulate pollutants in the atmosphere. Characteristics of air pollutants, particulate matter, their sampling, real time monitoring, and analyses will be discussed. Examples will be given to illustrate each of the available measurement techniques. The course aims to give students a comprehensive understanding of the most important gaseous pollutants and particulate matter which are affecting people’s lives today, including local air quality, regional haze (visibility impairment) and global climate change.
